Chisapani Nagarkot hiking takes place in the north eastern suburb of Kathmandu valley. After an hour’s drive from Kathmandu to Sundarijal, from where the real trek starts and continues upto Chisapani, where you will be enjoying the real flavour of nature being away from the crowded city. This trek offers an exciting uphill walk through the rhododendron forest of the Shivapuri national park. Trekkers have an opportunity to have a spectacular mountain view from the view point of Chisapani. One of best highlight of this trek is to have an eye catching view of a long range of Eastern Himalayan ranges from Langtang to Gaurishankar Range. The trekking trail leads us through some ethnic villages and mostly through a dense and beautiful forest, listening to birds chirping and enjoying the mesmerizing view of the Himalayas. If you are lucky enough, you can even meet wild fowls and sometimes deer. It also offers a mesmerizing Sunrise and other spectacular mountain views such as Mt. Everest from Nagarkot.

Trip Reviews

Safal, the guide, was organized and very well-prepared, arriving at my hotel before the time of departure to make sure I fully understood the day's activities. The company also emailed me a copy of the itinerary in advance, so I had a good idea of what I was getting into. The hike is a bit tricky to navigate, and I never would have made it by myself (I'm terrible with directions). Safal also coordinated with the driver to make sure he knew where we were at all times. On a 12-hour hike, it's reassuring to know there's a car waiting for you in case anything goes wrong. If you're thinking about going in this trip, I recommend being mindful of the weather. The sun was beautiful, but brutal in the mid-afternoon and I came away slightly sunburned. That was my own fault for not reapplying sunblock. Sunset was at 6:40. Depending on how fast you walk, you may be waiting in Nagarkot for a few hours before the sun actually sets. During the downtime, Safal gave me a very informative geography and history lesson on Nepal. Sadly, we couldn't see the sunset due to the clouds, but the journey was worth it.
