Annapurna Circuit trek. The hike takes additional 3–4 days. No camping is required, as new lodges have been built between Manang and the lake. The final approach to the lake is done in a day hike from the lodge at Tilicho Base Camp.
Trekkers attempting the Annapurna Circuit route usually cross the watershed between Manang and Kali Gandaki valleys over the 5416 meters high Thorong La pass. The alternate route, skirting Tilicho Lake from the north, has been gaining popularity. This route is more demanding and requires at least one night of camping. There are no teahouses or lodges past the Tilicho Base Camp lodge some kilometers east of the lake and the next village of Thini Gaon in the Kali Gandaki valley. Most groups spend two nights between these places. There are two passes leading to Thini Gaon and Jomsom; Mesokanto La and Tilicho North pass known also as Tilicho "Tourist pass". These routes via Tilicho Lake are more often closed by snow than the higher Thorong La.
Tilicho Lake was the site of one of the highest ever altitude scuba dives. A Russian diving team, consisting of Andrei Andryushin, Denis Bakin, and Maxim Gresko, conducted a scuba dive in the lake in 2000.

Tilicho lake, at an elevation of 4920 m in the high Himalayan region of Manang, is the highest lake in the world. One can have the magnificent views of major peaks of Annapurna Himalayan range such as Annapurna II 7939m, Annapurna IV 7525m, Annapurna III 7555m, Lamjung Himal 6932m, Gangapurna 7454m and so on during the trek to Tilicho lake. The traditional Tibetan villages with unique cultures and traditions gives trekkers a lifetime experience while trekking to Tilicho. Lake Tilicho also has a legendary feature of being a holy spot for the Hindus as is described in the Ramayan, the sacred holy book of the Hindus. The crossing of the challenging Tilicho Pass (5120 m) is an added advantage in the Tilicho Lake Trekking. Nevertheless, the diversity in the landscapes, temperature and the people that changing every few days ornate this trek as a unique and exceptional trek.

A scenic drive from Kathmandu to Chamje begins the Tilicho Lake Trek with SUCCESS ADVENTURE TREKS . The drive leads you through towns, villages and farmlands. The trek starts from Chamje trekking downhill most of the way following the mighty Marsyangdi River upstream all the way to its source at Manang and beyond. From Manang, following the North West route and heading towards Tilicho Lake Base Camp and Tilicho Lake. From Chauri Kharka. the trek descends downhill towards Jomsom. The exhilarating trek to Tilicho Lake comes to an end with a flight from Jomsom to Pokhara and drive back to Kathmandu.

Although Tilicho Lake Trek is a part of Annapurna Circuit Trekking, we have a customized trail that gives you extra joy and thrilling experience of the Tilicho Lake Trek.

Trek from Chamje to Dhararpani (1810m/5938ft). 5:30 hours

After breakfast, our day begins with the rocky trail following the Marsyandi Rivers steadily uphill to Tal at 1675meters, the first village in the Manang district. We make a trail verse crossing a wide, flat valley. The journey continues up and down to Dharapani at 1890 meters, a stone entrance chorten typical of the Tibetan influenced villages. The typical flat roofed stone houses of local Tibetans design along with the village surrounded by apple Orchards and maize fields are on the sight.

6
Trek from Dharapani to Chame (2725m/8940ft). 6 hours

The trail climbs to Bahundanda and Tyanja at 2360 meters, then continuing through forest, but near the river, to Kopar at 2590meters. As we reach Chame, the headquarters of the Manang district, we are rewarded by the fine views of Annapurna II as we approach Chame & two small hot springs by the town. Along this route we are introduced to a local community said to have migrated from Tibet a long time back, noticeable by their different features. With them, they have bought local Tibetan house designs and maintained their ways.

7
Trek from Chame to Pisang (3190m/10466ft). 5:30 hours

People of this region herd the yaks & raise crops for part of the year. They also continue to enjoy special trading rights gained way back in 1784. Leaving Pisang, we have alternate trails north and south of the Marsyangdi River which meets up again at Mungji. The southern route by Hongde, with its airstrip, at 3325meters which involves less climbing than the northern route via Ghyaru, though there are better views on the trail that follows the northern bank of the river. From Mungji, the trail continues past the picturesque but partially hidden village of Bryanga at 3475meters to nearby Manang at 3540meters.

9
Rest Day in Manang for acclimatization

Today we spend a day acclimatizing in Manang. The whole day we spend doing some fine day walks and over viewing the magnificent views around the village & the day time is best to gain altitude. At the end of the day, we return to our accommodation & have a night rest.

10
Trek to Khangsar Village (3700m/11203ft); 5 hours

11
Trek to Tilicho Lake base camp (4525m/13701ft). 4 hours

Continue from Khangsar on a large path. Pass a Gompa (monastery). The route ahead goes on a recently constructed path up towards a high ridge. At one point is an intersection. One path maintains the altitude, traversing the slopes towards a place where the valley is narrow; the other continues to ascend towards the line of the ridge. The former is the old path, and is much more difficult as it goes on really steep screed; the latter is the new path that goes a completely different way. Continue along the new path, reach a high crest, and descend on switch backs carved out through the screed slopes to a side valley of the main valley. At its bottom is a brook. On the other side of it is a building known as Tilicho Base Camp at elevation of 4200 meters.

12
Trek to Tilicho lake ( 4910m/14876ft) and back to Base camp. 6 hours

Today our journey start early in the morning around 6 AM as we try to avoid the wind. From Base camp to the Tilicho lake takes another 3-4 hours. 15
Trek to Muktinath via Thoroung-la passes (5416m/17769ft); 8:30 hrs

Today is a long trek starting before sunrise at 4 am to reach the pass by 9-10 am otherwise weather conditions will greatly affect the journey. We cross over at an altitude of 5416 meters we can be exposed to strong winds if crossing too late. We start to climb steeply that is regularly used and easy to follow. However, the problem may arise due to the altitude and snow. It often causes terrible problems to cross the pass if it is covered by snow but it is all depending on the weather condition. About four hours climb up to the pass marked by the chortens & prayer flags. As you reach the top, you are rewarded by the magnificent view from the top with another 4 hours trek will take to the holy town of Muktinath. Muktinath means place of Nirvana and is home to the Muktinath temple as well as several monasteries. It is said that all sorrows you feel are relieved when visiting the Temple, which is a scared pilgrimage site to both Hindus and Buddhists. The main pilgrimage normally takes place in September.
